MISSION UPDATE UK The Advent Truth Newsletter Satisfying
its voracious appetite, the Wolverine dined on a freshly-killed fish.
This rocky stream shoreline had provided it with many such meals. Only
35 pounds in weight. The
river was also a feeding area for bears. They feasted on salmon
returning from ocean waters to their spawning grounds. Some salmon had
already begun swimming by but the empty streams made them elusive.
Later, when the streams filled with fish, there would be less difficulty
catching them. There
had been no sign of bear near the stream today, but their presence would
have made little difference to the wolverine. This fierce, determined
animal turns aside for nothing and fights any challenger. As
it gorged itself on the fish, the aroma of fresh blood was picked up by
a hungry bear disappointed after a fruitless search of the stream. It
lumbered toward the source of the scent and approached from the
wolverine’s back. Hearing a noise, the wolverine turned and faced a
four hundred pound grizzly. Moving toward the fish, the bear growled a
warning, but the wolverine refused to surrender its meal. The
wolverine sprang first, but with one powerful swipe the four inch claws
of the grizzly slashed through its tough skin and sent it sprawling to
the rocks. The wolverine leaped again aiming for the back of the neck,
but it only managed to sink its sharp teeth into the shoulder muscles.
In a wild fury of fangs and claws new wounds opened on each contestant.
But the powerful grizzly soon overcome its tenacious opponent. It
clamped its large jaws around the wolverine’s back, lifted it high
into the air and flung it against the rocks. The
wolverine’s body lay motionless where it had fallen. The grizzly was
clearly the winner and might have walked away with the fish, buts its
rage had been aroused. It triumphantly stepped forward to pour out
more fury on its victim. As it bent down, the wolverine mustered
all its remaining strength and lunged at the bear. Its sharp teeth sank
into the bear’s throat and reached their mark. The stunned and
surprised bear felt the fiery pain of vital cords being severed. Then a
strange numbing seized its body and it slumped to the ground. Exhausted
and badly wounded, the wolverine managed to drag itself over to a
crevice in the rocks. There it would wait for healing to come to its
body. The determination which made retreat unthinkable would now be used
to recover from the near fatal wounds. We are but a small force in this large world, we are taking on the giants of Satan’s masterpiece’s in this world, but he will loose just like the bear. We must all in this time be like the wolverine! There is a movie called No Retreat - No Surrender! God requires an army that knows no retreat and no surrender, may the Lord help all of us to be part of this army.
A
GREAT WORK TO BE DONE IN ENGLAND “There
is a great work to be done in England. The light radiating from London
should beam forth in clear, distinct rays to regions beyond. God has
wrought in England, but this English-speaking world has been terribly
neglected. England has needed many more laborers and much more means.
London has been scarcely touched. My heart is deeply moved as the
situation in that great city is presented before me. It pains me to
think that greater facilities are not provided for the work throughout
Europe. I have sore heartache as I think of the work in Switzerland,
Germany, Norway, and Sweden. Where there are one or two men struggling
to carry forward the different branches of the cause, there should be
hundreds at work. In the city of London alone no fewer than one hundred
men should be engaged. The Lord marks the neglect of His work, and there
will be a heavy account to settle by and by. If the workers in America will impart to others of their great mercies, they will see prosperity in England. They will sympathize with the workers who are struggling with difficulties there, and will have the heart to say, not only in word but in action: "All ye are brethren." Matthew 23:8. They will see a great work done in London, all through the cities of England, and throughout the different European countries.” 6T 25, 26 GATHERING
THE FRUIT. - A DREAM. In
a dream given me Sept. 29, 1886, I was walking with a large company who
were looking for berries. There were many young men and women in the
company who were to help in gathering the fruit. We seemed to be in a
city, for there was very little vacant ground; but around the city there
were open fields, beautiful groves, and cultivated gardens. A large
wagon laden with provisions for our company went before us. Soon
the wagon halted, and the party scattered in every direction to look for
fruit. All around the wagon were both high and low bushes, bearing
large, beautiful whortleberries; but the company were all looking too
far away to see them. I began to gather the fruit near by, but very
carefully, for fear of picking the green berries, which were so mingled
with the ripe fruit that I could pick only one or two berries from a
cluster. Some
of the nice large berries had fallen to the ground, and were half
consumed by worms and insects. "O!" thought I, "if this
field had only been entered before, all this precious fruit might have
been saved. But it is too late now. I will, however, pick these from the
ground, and see if there is any good in them. Even if the whole berry is
spoiled, I can at least show the brethren what they might have found if
they had not been too late. Just
then two or three of the party came sauntering around where I was. They
were chatting, and seemed to be much occupied with each other's company.
Seeing me, they said, "We have looked everywhere, and can find no
fruit." They looked with astonishment at the quantity I had. I
said, "There are more to be gathered from these bushes." They
began picking, but soon stopped, saying, "It is not fair for us to
pick here; you found this spot, and the fruit is yours." But I
replied, "That makes no difference. Gather wherever you can find
anything. This is God's field, and these are his berries; it is your
privilege to pick them." But
soon I seemed to be alone again. Every little while I heard talking and
laughing at the wagon. I called out to those who were there, "What
are you doing?" They answered, "We could not find any berries,
and as we were tired and hungry, we thought we would come to the wagon
and take a lunch. After we have rested awhile, we will go out
again." "But," said I, "you have brought in nothing
as yet. You are eating up all our supplies, without giving us any more.
I cannot eat now; there is too much fruit to be picked. You did not find
it, because you did not look close enough. It does not hang on the
outside of the bushes; you must search for it. True, you cannot pick it
by handfuls; but by looking carefully among the green berries, you will
find very choice fruit." My small pail was soon full of berries,
and I took them to the wagon. Said I, "This is the nicest fruit
that I ever picked, and I gathered it near by, while you have wearied
yourselves by searching at a distance without success." Then all
came to see my fruit. They said, "These are high-bush berries, firm
and good. We did not think we could find anything on the high bushes, so
we hunted for low-bush berries only, and found but few of these." I
then said, "Will you take care of these berries, and then go with
me to look for more fruit on the high bushes?" But they had made no
preparation to care for the fruit. There were dishes and sacks in
abundance, but they had been used to hold food. I became tired of
waiting, and finally asked, "Did you not come to gather fruit? Then
why are you not prepared to take care of it?" One responded,
"Sister White, we did not really expect to find any fruit where
there were so many houses, and so much going on; but as you seemed so
anxious to gather fruit, we decided to come with you. We thought we
would bring enough to eat, and would enjoy the recreation, if we did not
gather any fruit." I answered, "I cannot understand this kind
of work. I shall go to the bushes again at once. The day is already far
spent, soon the night will be here, in which we can gather no
fruit." Some went with me, but others remained by the wagon to eat. In
one place a little company had collected, and were busily talking about
something in which they seemed much interested. I drew near and found
that a little child in a woman's arms had attracted their attention. I
said, "You have but a little time, and might better work while you
can." The attention of many was attracted by a young man and a
young woman who were running a race to the wagon. On reaching it they
were so tired that they had to sit down and rest. Others also had thrown
themselves down on the grass to rest. Thus
the day wore on, and very little was accomplished. At last I said,
"Brethren, you call this an unsuccessful expedition. If this is the
way you work, I do not wonder at your lack of success. Your success or
failure depends upon the way you take hold of the work. There are
berries here; for I have found them. Some of you have been searching the
low bushes in vain, others have found a few berries; but the high bushes
have been passed by, simply because you did not
expect to find fruit on
them. You see that the fruit which I have gathered is large and ripe. In
a little while other berries will ripen, and we can go over the bushes
again. This is the way in which I was taught to gather fruit. If you had
searched near the wagon, you might have found fruit as well as I. "The lesson that you have this day given to those who are just learning how to do this kind of work, will be copied by them. The Lord has placed these fruit-bearing bushes right in the midst of these thickly settled places, and he expects you to find them. But you have been altogether too much engaged in eating, and amusing yourselves. You did not come to the field with an earnest determination to find fruit. You must hereafter work with more zeal and earnestness, and with an altogether different object in view, or your labors will never be successful. By working in the right way, you will teach the younger workers that such matters as eating and recreation are of minor importance. It has been hard work to bring the wagon of supplies to the ground, but you have thought more of the supplies than of the fruit you ought to carry home as the result of your labors. You should be diligent, first to pick the berries nearest you, and then to search for those farther away; after that you can return and work near by again, and thus you will be successful. (Gospel Workers The Missionary P328). CLEAR-VIEW
LIVING FOUNTAINS ACADEMY We
are in the process of setting up a new self-supporting school in Derby.
There are a number of church members who are crying out for their
children to have a Christian education. Plans
are being laid in place to set up the school for September 2001.
We are in the process of selling our property, to re-locate to
Derby, where I am also looking for a new job to pay for the property.
Emma will be one of the three teachers and I will act as the
School Manager and teach evangelism part time. The
ministry Advent Truth will eventually merge into the school and function
as the missionary and training arm. The
school will take pupils aged 5-15yrs and will prepare them for useful
missionary work, by training them in practical labour and academic
subjects, with the option of external examinations. Career
guidance will be provided, the primary function being to prepare the
youth for active service in the church. We
need your prayers and support in this bold venture, especially as a lot
has to happen for a September start. To keep the school as debt free as
possible it may have to be housed in our property. We
have sighted one property and made an offer, which has been refused.
This property is ideal, in that there are two parts to it, with over 1/3
of an acre of agricultural land and a suitable courtyard for a play
area. One part is ideal for our living accommodation and ministry
housing, the other which is in desperate need of renovation, would make
an ideal school building, with room for a health lifestyle centre for up
to 2-3 guests, allowing plenty of facility for a kitchen and a hydro
room. The
total asking price for the property is £280,000 for the two plots (two
barn conversions). The second plot needing renovation would require £50,000
to rebuild. Reasons
for this site being suitable: 1.
Very close to all the parents who wish to send their children there (10
children in total). 2.
Allows accommodation for us and the ministry, and a separate hall for
the school, with room accommodation for two guests and a hydro and
massage treatment room. We
can raise about £140,000 with a mortgage, but not the £50,000 for
renovation or the extra funds required to purchase the property for the
vendor to accept the offer. We need your help. A charity is being set up
and all donations will be tax deductible. We need ideally £280,000 to
enable us to be debt free plus the £50,000. We
are told that an army of youth will finish this work and this is the
purpose of the school, to train evangelists for church work. “ The Lord would use the church school as an aid to educating and preparing children for this time before us. Then let the church take hold of the schoolwork in earnest and make it what the Lord desires it to be. God has appointed the church as a watchman to have a jealous care over the children. But the church does not realise the situation. She is sleeping on guard. In this time of peril fathers and mothers must arouse and work as for life, or many of the youth will be forever lost” Child guidance Ch. 53. HEALTH
EVANGELISM, DOES IT WORK? The
Lay members looked at each other, this was the first time the reality of
the situation had set in, they were about to present Health Reform as a
witnessing tool for Jesus Christ, would it work? What would the response
be? Had they picked the right format? Had they done what God required?
They had booked the Hall, arranged the advertising, leafleting, format
and sponsorship now it was time to see… The
small room started to fill with a mixture of people and then there was
no going back… The
speaker (Manjit) stood and with
a beaming smile looked at the crowd and launched into some statistics,
shocked silence ensued as link after link was shown between diet and
disease. Day One of a Six
Day Evangelistic Series had started and the room of 20 people listened
intently to the Truths about Health that were presented to them. Some
were Christians, some Vegetarians, some New Agers but most importantly
they were people that were ready to make friends. Faces
gazed at slides, presentations and video footage as the realities of the
consequences of the modern lifestyle were paraded before them, bad news
was followed by more bad news… Then
came the good news and solutions and the people visibly relaxed as they
realised that they could choose to control their lifestyle and now had
the information to make intelligent choices. Smiles could be seen on
many faces as the advice was laid out before them, and you could see the
active acceptance of the
offering of friendship and support being taken up. With the discreet
revelation of Biblical and Spirit of Prophecy teachings being presented
in a gradual, comfortable manner. Spiritual seeds were sown. The
practical element of the presentations were the ½ hour food
demonstrations each day, these were very informal and the free food
helped people to understand that we were there to take care of their
physical needs, just as Jesus had done, opening the way to address their
spiritual needs. A
bond was formed between the attendees and the evangelist (who was also
the local Vegetarian Society President and happened to be a member of
our church…. which helped.) and six people joined the following weekly
meetings, which were transferred to the church. Peterborough now has an
active health evangelism group, and this is just the first step to a
much bigger health presence within the city. £100
worth of food Sponsorship was also received from Sainsburys and a thank
you to them for their considered support.. God
really blessed us over the six nights and a special thanks goes to all
the workers involved, especially those who prayed diligently for
success. But one particular couple showed what can really be achieved when you dedicate yourselves to the Lord, their untiring leafleting, effort, dedication and presentation skills made this programme possible, a special thanks to Manjit and Emma Biant who presented the material and the cookery demonstrations, and a prayer that they continue in God’s Grace as the church needs dedicated lay workers such as these and may the Holy Spirit raise more such labourers. Thank you for being willing tools for Our Lord Jesus Christ’s work. M Timberlake Communications officer, Peterborough SDA Church 29/12/2000 Adventists in the Devils den The
Tarot Reader smoothed out his red tablecloth shuffled his cards and
checked his change. The
Crystal Healer placed her crystals, crystal cleansed her “zone” and
checked her change. Countless
New Age “Healers” checked their merchandise, arranged their wares
and checked their change. They
were gathered in a double halled exhibition suite to demonstrate
“Natural Healing”, at a cost of course. The
doors were opened to a long queue of
the curious and the experienced. Fascinated people milled about
and started paying a small fortune for various “cures”.
Numerous ills were “cleared”, “cured” and “healed”. You
could sense a spiritual presence , a heavy oppressive threatening
presence that pervaded the halls. Pleasant words and mannerisms
encouraged people to dabble in the “friendly” occult. With great
sadness many were observed indulging in apparently “innocent”
practices. It could be seen that New Age Religion had come of age and
was very deft in its conversion process. One
table was different however, there was a presence of peace, friendship
and gentleness around it. Three Christians could be seen praying
together and then ministering to people’s needs, giving head massage,
offering health advice and discounted books. All the while silently
praying for strength and protection in this most difficult of locations. God
blessed the position of the table, it was pitched right next to the
entrance and was the first and last table to be seen. Countless curious
people gathered around this innocuous looking table. Friends
were made, problems solved and spiritual light was shone into spiritual
darkness in Peterborough. One lady, who was a professed Buddhist,
eventually walked away with a full set of the Conflict of The Ages
series by Ellen White and left with a sparkle in her eye and an interest
in Christianity, what was most remarkable however was that this woman
was one of the vendors! Some
may feel that Christians had no place in an event of this type, others
may feel that the battle was best taken to the enemy, one thing is
certain, spiritual strength was needed and a constant awareness of
God’s protection was paramount. The
three young Christians went home tired - mentally, physically and
spiritually, but exultant in that God had once more stepped into
darkness and planted seeds. Seeds that would be reaped at the coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ. The event was organised to showcase Alternative Healing (New Age) in August 2000 at the Cresset Centre. It was attended by three members of the Peterborough SDA Church to present a free series of seminars and courses that were to be offered in the months following. Fifty plus names were placed on a database for contact purposes. Some very special people were befriended and hopefully some lasting friendships were established. Mark Timberlake - Communications Officer Peterborough Seventh Day Adventist Church A
LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS…PART 2 The health show was put on again 6 months later, the organisers were really pleased we wanted a stand again, as they had enjoyed the massage! We had the same place by the door and split the stand into 3 sections; mind, body and spirit. One part dealt with the vegetarian society, another with the free health guides we were offering, and finally the spiritual element, offering Great Controversy, Steps to Christ, Bible Readings For The Home and Prophet Of The End. We became bold in our approach, out rightly asking people if they were spiritual, many responded and were encouraged to buy the books. Praise the Lord many books sold, and the Prophet Of the End, showing Ellen G White as a true prophet was keenly accepted. Once again Light shined in a dark place. Once
upon a time there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his
writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his
work. One day he was walking along the shore. As he looked down the
beach, he saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself
to think of someone who would dance to the day. So he began to walk
faster to catch up. As
he got closer, he saw that it was a young man, and the young man wasn't
dancing, but instead he was reaching down to the shore, picking up
something and very gently throwing it into the ocean. As
he got closer he called out, "Good morning! What are you
doing?" The young man paused, looked up and replied, "Throwing
starfish in the ocean. " "I
guess I should have asked, why are you throwing starfish in the
ocean?" "The
sun is up and the tide is going out. And if I don't throw them in they
will die. " "But,
young man, don't you realise that there are miles and miles of beach and
starfish all along it You can't possibly make a difference!" The
young man listened politely. Then bent down, picked another starfish and
threw it into the sea, past the breaking waves and said, "It made a
difference for that one. " There is something very special in each and every one of us. We have all been gifted with the ability to make a difference. And if we can become aware of that gift, we gain through the strength of our visions the power to shape the future. We must each find our starfish. And if we throw our stars wisely and well, the world will be blessed. In the closing of Earth's history we all who profess to be God's people have a part to play. We have not a moment to lose, an opportunity to waste. It is our prayer here that we will remain faithful to God's calling, providence and leading. It is also our prayer that you will make the same commitment. THE
DAY GOD SMILED IN THE TOWN SQUARE Imagine
yourself up above a city; assume a bird’s eye view, the wind
whispering over your face. Listen
to the sounds wafting upward from a bustling city centre on a Sabbath
morning. People scurrying about like ants going to and fro in their mad
dash to buy the latest status item, mixed in with the destitute and poor
who gravitate to the scene of excitement in the hope of some bargain or
charitable act….. As
you swoop closer, picture if you will the centre of the city, against
the sky stands the grand old Cathedral with its towering spires and awe
inspiring arches. These testify of the wealth and exaltation of a church
long past its heyday and now struggling with the witness of diminishing
numbers. A reminder of the mistakes made in the name of tradition.
In
the foreground of this is the old Cathedral gateway, buildings that have
been slowly merged into a modern functionality of shops and banks.
A strange mix of modern and old creep along the boundaries of
your eyesight and reminds you of the relentless passage of time and
man’s inability to see God in his mad rush to oblivion. As
your eye sweeps around the square you notice a
McDonalds on one side, a Burger King on another and an old church
nestled in the background. In
the midst of this ensemble of old and new is an antiquated town square,
rising on steps to form a high stone platform. Their are four columns on
each corner strutting upwards, striving to support the Old Guild Hall,
which, for this day, has been seconded for a special presentation. Looking
up you see a crystal clear blue sky with the slightest trace of wispy
cloud, a God given answer to a specific prayer and your heart pauses as
you consider the Providence of God and his gift of a beautiful sunny day
in the middle of days of rain and wind. This was a miracle. The
sound of music attracts your attention, you turn to the Old Guild Hall
and there in-between two stone columns a music system pumps out gospel
music. A strange thing
happens amidst the hustle and bustle of the city centre. A peaceful
gentle presence can be detected, the music calls out and people turn to
see what the fuss is about. The city centre slows down, music for young
and old is playing, but before you turn away you realise the songs are
about someone special, the songs are proclaiming the Glory of Jesus
Christ. Flags
and Banners proclaiming Jesus waft in the very gentle breeze and young
Christians gather together with old and celebrate The Glory of their
Saviour, all the time
mingling with non-Christians in warmth and friendship. Then
a Gospel choir takes centre stage, and the city centre pauses and holds
its breath as the sound of God given voices proclaim the Joy of the worship of God.
People of all walks of life stop as the young black singers release
their abilities into God’s hand, and for a while the woes and worries
of life’s helter skelter madness is forgotten by many. Then
to one side you notice tables, one is full of free drinks and biscuits,
with smiling joyful people giving refreshment to sun drenched
spectators, next to it is a table full of books, FREE books. This
attracts a vast amount of attention and some people drift up and
tentatively pick up the books, whilst others stop and with a mildly
perplexed look on their faces stare at the signs, completely
FREE…….. They
walk up to the table and find a group of smiling happy Adventist
Christians joyously giving away bibles and books by a woman called Ellen
White, some people walk away with complete sets of the Conflict of the
Ages, some with health advice, some with Bibles, some with assorted
small books and leaflets. But most walk away with a seed planted by God. The
day glides on and the Christians serving on the tables meet other
Christians from other churches and non-Christians, and they proclaim the
joy of a relationship with Jesus Christ to them. They call themselves
Seventh Day Adventists and they talk of the love of their Saviour . Also
they explain about the Remnant Church that wants people to be restored
to God’s side through his Son and have a fulfilling trustful
relationship with God. As we slowly drift away from this scene, and we can sense upon the workers and spectators blessings falling. Seeds are placed in hands and in hearts, people walk away with their first impression of a Saviour and some Christians walk away with the idea that there is more light out there, if they want it. Emma
was mingling in the crowds giving the books away as they listened to the
music, there were four west indian ladies who stopped and listened. Emma
tried to give them some books, but they were very suspicious. I could
see from where I was, that there was a problem, and could see Emma
directing them to where I was with the table of books. Sensing
there was a problem, as they approached I prayed. They came over and
flicked through some of the books. I then spoke and said that these
books are free on two conditions. They looked at me tutting and asked
what were the two conditions. I said the first condition was that they
must give me some dumplings , with that the lady who tutted got hold of
a Desire Of ages and smashed it on my head saying “I will give you
dumplings”, which hurt, then proceeded to pull out from her handbag a
bag full of Dumplings, then she said “what is the second
condition”!!! I said you must promise to read them, they agreed and
took the books. I then told them God brought them to receive the books
from me, and for them to give me some dumplings. How many people carry
dumplings in their handbag during the middle of the day? The Lord had
divinely planned that brief encounter!! Praise the Lord.
Two days later……..A
member from the local church is sitting on a bus on her way to work,
thoughts of work and life
and God drift through her mind. She
notices a young woman she has seen on the bus many times, the young
woman is avidly reading a book, her whole attention is soaked up in this
book. Intense
interest sweeps over the member as she studies the young woman reading.
The woman shifts position and the title of the book becomes
visible…Steps To Christ by Ellen White. Several
weeks later......
a young man walks into church, he has read the Great Controversy and has
a burning desire to know more, he picked up the book at the Christian
Event…..As a result he was baptised and has since made his stand for
the truth at the local RAF base where he works. Many
seeds were sown on this God Glorified day and the Holy Spirit is out
there now, working and blessing and leading people, many of the seeds
sown on that day will not be seen to have been reaped until the glorious
ascension of the Saints, Praise God for his Wonderful ways. This
was an event organised by a non denominational Youth Outreach group on
Saturday 6th May 2000. A
special thanks to the leader, Antony, for his support and invitation for
us to join the event and have specifically a table of books.
We were able to provide over 700 books that were given away.
Thanks to all the church members that got involved who made the day
possible, through hard work and behind the scenes help, but most of all
thanks goes to The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit for giving us the
opportunities, skills and motivation to participate in this amazing
witness opportunity. The mayor was also awarded a free Illustrated Great
Controversy as a gift. 1 year later.....A young man posts a bible study response slip. He received this at the event, along with a Steps To Christ 1 year ago, he wrestled 12 months to respond, and finally he did. Richard was visited, but his friends at the flat said there was no such person, they were protecting Richard as they thought the Police had come for him! Richard is now regularly attending church, once he was a drug pusher, a violent person, today he is a son of God serving the Lord, and today he spends long hours delivering Bible and health cards inviting people to study more about how to have a changed life. Praise the Lord. The seeds sown today may take many months to bear fruit. 6
YEARS TO BE BAPTISED 6 years ago I advertised in a local paper for people to receive a free Great Controversy. One lady and her daughter responded. 1 year later she requested a visit and a series of bible studies were conducted. We then moved away from the city. 2 years later, we received a letter from the daughter, that she had been baptised in Israel. 6 years later from the original delivery of the book, Joyce, her mother, gave her life to Christ and made her commitment to the remnant church. God Bless you Joyce. KIDS
ON THE STREET It
was a lovely week that week, when we organised a health and bible series
in Dalton Church, located in the Lake District with Pastor Peter Jeynes.
It was a Friday Night, we made one last attempt to stick up posters at
the local bus stop. Three ladies responded to the poster inviting people
to the meetings. They enjoyed the presentation, but made no further
commitment. We were encouraged and discouraged at the same time, why had
not the Lord blessed us with the numbers? We went in the car and 50
yards down the road from church we noticed a girl lying in the road, her
friends surrounding her. We stopped and enquired what the problem was.
She had taken some intoxicating substance and was unable to stand. An
ambulance was called, and just as it arrived she came out of her sleep
and ran as fast as she could, so as not to get caught, we hardly even
noticed that she had fled, as we became preoccupied with the ambulance. Obviously
there was nothing we could do, so we started talking with the young
folk, a group of about 10, aged 13-16yrs. We were able to strike up a
good conversation, and invited them to our Bible programme on Daniel the
next morning - Sabbath. One youth who appeared to be leading them, was
half intoxicated, he wanted to come and asked if we would come and
collect him in the morning. Not sure if he was joking, we agreed. Sabbath
morning arrived, we knocked on the door, and he was waiting for us,
along with the 9 other youth! They marched up the road to church, 2
girls got distracted and saw a friend and went over the road to talk
with them, the leader, however, shouted over to them and ordered them
into church! It was like the Cross and the Switchblade. That day showed us that there are precious children out there on the streets, that need Jesus. The youth never came back, and who knows what has become of them, but this was a lesson that we must watch and seek for souls. MISSION
NEEDS We
are in desperate need of the
following equipment if anyone would be willing to help: 1.
Laptop £1,400 2.
Data Project £3000 The laptop and projector is urgently needed to run bible and health presentations on powerpoint for public outreach. PETERBOROUGH
VEGETARIAN SOCIETY We
have set up the vegetarian society is Peterborough, this has been useful
because this gives credibility to any health outreach programmes we
carry out. Every time we run a health series we then invite folk to come to our weekly cooking demonstration each week held at church. To date we now have 11 members to the society of whom only 4 of us are SDA. PETERBOROUGH
BIBLE & HEALTH CARD EVANGELISM As
part of the Personal ministries department we have helped pioneer a
bible study outreach programme in Peterborough. We have designed a
health card and a bible card, the bible card advertises various web
pages and invites folk to participate in bible studies and to receive
free loan Doug Batchelor videos. The health cards were paid for by my
company as part of a sponsorship for the Peterborough Vegetarian Society
we run. To date we have 21 responses for Bible studies and 38 responses for the health course. We have 2 videos on the work and life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He was a prominent Christian during the rise of the Nazi's and Hitler in Germany in the 1930's & 1940's. The contents of the videos, the history and what took place is just a foretaste of what is about to happen to God's people in these last days. These videos will help you to see some of the issues. Bonhoeffer’s faith will also encourage you. Hanged on a twisted Cross. £19.95. SPIRIT
OF PROPHECY VIDEO We are currently raising funds to produce a professional quality video for the non Adventist European audience. The purpose of the video is to present the biblical facts about prophets, the tests to identify a prophet and then an outline of how Ellen White fulfils each of these tests. Part 2 of the video will be for Adventists outlining the special role of Ellen White to us individually and to the Church. The purpose of the video is to inspire confidence in her writings at a time when there is much dis-regard for the precious counsel God has given us, through her prophetic gift. The cost to produce this video will be in the region of £12,000. PATHWAYS

YOU BELIEVE IN GOD’S LEADING? No doubt your answer is yes! Christians
know that God leads His followers through history. These stories
represent a demonstration of His providence in the process of their
development. During the twenty years that elapsed from the idea for this
series and its completion, various people responded to God’s call to
assist. Today we offer you Pathways of the Pioneers, a series of 117 historical stories about the development and growth of the Seventh Day Adventist church. It covers the time from William Miller and the clear call from God to “Go tell it to the world”, until the death of Ellen G White. It tells also of all the exciting , troublesome, difficult, and wonderful years in between. This is a story and adventure not to be missed, listen to inspiring stories of how God led this prophetic church and is still leading her to His glory. THE
